Biography
Born in the village of Gnezdilovka ( Fatezh uyezd , Kursk province ) in the family of a priest. He studied at the Kursk Theological College , after graduation he entered the Belgorod Theological Seminary , after which he studied at the Medical Faculty of Kharkov University , from where he was expelled in 1878 for participating in student unrest. The organizer of populist circles in Kharkov , Kiev and Odessa , was a member of the youth society organized by Elizabeth Kowalska . He participated in the organization of the murder of Kharkov Governor Dmitry Kropotkin , after which he moved to an illegal position.
In 1879, he arrived in Kiev and joined the revolutionary organization " Narodnaya Volya " and the united circle of Narodnaya Volya and black-settlers (" Black Redistribution "). He also established contacts with secret organizations of Kharkov and Odessa.
Not counting terrorism as the right way to rebuild the state, he wrote: "Personally, I and many of the youth of this and other cities that I met with, realized that we were taking the wrong path, that this mode of action does not lead to the goal, but the general course it was so strong on this path that there was no way to turn on the other path, it was considered dishonorable to stand aside from the movement. " “I would like Russia’s peaceful but gradual progress, but I prefer a revolutionary coup of reaction ... Young people do not regret that they should bring so many victims; she is convinced that these victims will bring happiness to Russia soon or not ... My only desire is see Russia come out of this situation or die. "
In 1880 he was arrested and in July of that year, by the verdict of the Kiev District Court, sentenced to exile for hard labor for 20 years, followed by a life sentence in Siberia . In February 1882 he arrived at Kara, but already in July, for clashes with the administration, he was sent to St. Petersburg ( Peter and Paul Fortress ). In August 1884, he was transferred to the Shlisselburg fortress , where after 7 years of stay he died "from acute pulmonary edema."
