Biography
She was born on January 24, 1921 in the village of Khodoshan near Cakovec (now Medjimurje, Republic of Croatia ). She moved to Belgrade a few years before the war, worked in a textile factory. Joined the labor movement, working in workshops owned by Vlad Ilych . Since 1938, a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia . Participated in all labor strikes and demonstrations. In the fall of 1939, during one of the strikes, she transferred the demands of the workers to Vlad Ilic, who promised to satisfy the demands of the strikers, but two days later they began to be arrested, and Gregoran received a formal refusal. After the ongoing strike, Ilic was forced to meet the workers.
In the fall of 1940, Marijana became a member of the Belgrade City Committee of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia , and then the Serbian Regional Committee. After the occupation of Yugoslavia, the Nazis and their satellites went into the partisan underground, taking up organizational activities. On August 25, she was arrested by police; on September 19, 1941, she was shot in Yaintsi, in a political prisoner camp.
She was buried in the Alley of executed patriots of the Belgrade New Cemetery . A street in the Belgrade district of Karaburma bears the name of Mariana Gregoran, where a monument is erected to her.
