Taibarey, Ivan Fedotovich

Born March 10, 1908 in the Bolshezemelskaya tundra in the family of a reindeer herder. In 1913 he moved with his family to the village of Pustozersk , worked as a shepherd. From January 1927, he was a candidate member of the executive committee of the Telvisochny Samoyed District Council, from August 1928 he was the chairman of the Yushar Tundra Council, and from October 1929 he was chairman of the Bolshezemelsky RIK. In 1931 he was admitted to the membership of the CPSU (b). Since April 1932 - instructor of OK VKP (b). In October 1936, at the VI Extraordinary Congress of the District Council, he was elected chairman of the Nenets OIC. Since 1931 - a member of the plenum of the Northern Regional Executive Committee. In 1933, folklorist Vyacheslav Tonkov recorded several epic tales from Taipei, which were later included in the collection “Nenets Tales”.

In 1936, Taipei, a delegate to the VIII Extraordinary All-Union Congress of Soviets, at which he made a speech on economic and cultural construction in the Nenets okrug, made a proposal to the draft Constitution, in particular, on granting the Nenets the right to serve in the Red Army. This proposal was accepted in the autumn of 1939. In August 1939 he was convicted by the Arkhangelsk Regional Court as an “ enemy of the people ”, sentenced to 20 years in prison ^[1] . He died in 1941 in a camp. In 1974, the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR overturned the sentence for lack of corpus delicti. Rehabilitated.
