History

The fort was built at the beginning of the XX century on the recommendation in 1897 of the commission on armament of fortresses. In 1906 it was included in the Sevastopol fortress. It is a long-term field reinforcement of irregular shape with two angular casemates with underground passages with access to the surface. In the center of the fort there is a guard barracks with a total area of 140 m2, and around it there is a moat with a rampart. The fort was designed to accommodate ten cannons and a company of infantry (250 people). According to some reports, the fort’s casemates were used as a guardhouse , and several executions were committed there during the period of revolutionary events. In 1925 , a memorial plaque with the names of the executed was established on the territory of the fort.

During the defense of Sevastopol 1941-1942, the fort's casemates housed the command post of the 1st Guards Artillery Division. In 1967 , two commemorative signs with text were installed near the fort (author V.M. Nazarepko).

In the 1970s , attempts were made to create a museum exhibition in the fort. In those same years, the most preserved part of it was filled up, buildings and Fort Liter “A-5” appeared on it, as a monument of fortification art of the beginning of the 20th century, practically ceased to exist.
