Spotted Sea Eel

White-spotted eel , or Japanese conger [2] ( lat. Conger conger ), is a fish of the conger family (Congridae) [3] . Valuable subject of fishing. It is considered the most delicious fish among the Congers . It is a traditional object of fishing and mariculture in Japan.

Description

Body length up to 1 m. Head and body are covered with large white spots. The lower jaw varies in size, premaxillary teeth do not protrude. On jaws on one row of teeth. The preanal lateral pores are 39–43. The vertebrae are 142-148 [4] .

Range

Distributed in the northwest Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan , the Korean Peninsula , and in the East China Sea .

Biology

Marine demersal oceanodromic fish of moderate latitudes [5] . Lives at depths up to 320–830 m. A common view on sandy-silty soils off the coast of Japan [6] .
