The opera Porin was long banned by the Habsburg authorities, fearing that the opera would inspire the Croats to riot. The premiere took place only on October 2, 1897, 43 years after the death of the author.
The most striking scenes of the opera are considered Porin’s romance " Zorko moja ", Sveslav’s aria in prison and a choir from the second act.
