Adiego, Ignacio-Javier

Ignacio-Javier (Inyasi-Xavier) Adiego Lahara is a Catalan linguist, an expert in comparative historical linguistics, Indo-European studies and European languages ​​of the period of antiquity.

He defended his dissertation in the University of Barcelona (1990) for the degree of Doctor of Philology “ Kariysky language ”, in which he clarified the decoding of the Carian script, proposed by J. Ray . Currently he is the head of the department of Indo-European languages ​​at the university.

The main interests include the Anatolian languages and the languages ​​of ancient Italy (Latin, Italic and Etruscan ). Contributed to the interpretation of the Etruscan texts and the establishment of genetic relationships within the Italic group of languages. He is a supporter of the Indo-Hittite hypothesis , for which he suggests the more cautious name of the “early separation hypothesis” (of the Anatolian languages ​​from other Indo-European) [1] .

Another area of ​​interest is the study of languages ​​and dialects of Spain. Discovered and published the dictionary of the XVIII century Spanish-Gypsy language.
