Characteristics
51 Eridanus is a young star about 20 million years old. [1] . This is a yellow-white subgiant , having a mass equal to 1.75 solar masses, and luminosity - 85% of the luminosity of the sun. The surface temperature of the star is approximately 7331 Kelvin [3] . 51 Eridanus belongs to the moving group of stars of the painter's β , the members of which are united among themselves by a common direction of movement and origin [5] .
Planetary system
In 2015, in the 51 Eridani system, a group of astronomers discovered [1] a planet similar to Jupiter at an early stage of its formation. Scientists were able to directly make her pictures with the help of telescopes Keck Observatory, located on the island of Hawaii , USA . Spectral analysis showed that the planet is much more "red" than brown dwarfs similar to it. The effective temperature of the planet is 605–737 Kelvin. [3]
