Spightstown ( English Speightstown , / ˈ s p aɪ t s . T aʊ n / ) is the second largest city in Barbados , a major tourist center. The city was founded in the 17th century and named after William Speight, a member of the first Assembly of Barbados. For many years remained one of the main ports of the island. Spitestown is interesting for its architecture, which has preserved many of the old mansions of the colonial times.
