The match between the world champion in hundred-cell drafts Isidore Weiss (France) and the applicant for this title German Gogland (Netherlands) was held in Utrecht (Netherlands) on April 5-9, 1911. The match was played on most of the 10 games and ended in a Weis victory with a score of +2 −1 = 7. The games of the match were published in the drafts monthly “Le Damier Universel”. [1] The match agreement provided for him to play for the world title. This condition was approved by one of the organizers of the drafts life in France, Fernand Bouillon of Marseille. But in the May issue of Le Damier Universel, a statement by the President of the French Drafts Federation Felix-Jules Bolsay of April 2, 1911 appeared in which he declared the condition for the world championship to be invalidated. Bolse argued that the world title was awarded to Weiss by a collective decision of the French drafts community, and the world title should be played in a tournament with the appropriate status. [2] It is difficult to say whether the participants in the match obeyed this decision, and what would have happened to the champion title if Gogland won. At least in 1912, in the next major match of Weiss with Alfred Molymar, only the French title was played. [3] [4] And after the victory of Hoagland in the 1912 World Cup in Rotterdam, Bolse stated that the organizers of the tournament did not agree with the French Federation on all the conditions for the title, and insisted that the world title be played in the match between Hogland and Molimar. [5] And now Hogland reasonably refused to play the title in the match. [6]
