Biography
Born in the city of Klintsy, Oryol region. Jew.
In the Red Army since 1930. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1940.
Member of the Soviet-Finnish war.
World War II
In the fall of 1941, Major Leibovich participated in the Moonsund Defensive Operation . In 1941-1942 commanded the 1st communist company of the 1st ski battalion of the Leningrad Front . Since January 1943, he commanded 612 separate Baltic Fleet penal companies at the Oranienbaum bridgehead . In the summer and autumn of 1943 he participated in the battles on the Ivanovo patch . On January 24, 1944, the Leibovich unit liberated the Sablino station [1] .
On September 20, 1944, Major Leibovich’s reconnaissance company landed on four Bolshoy Tyuters island from four torpedo boats, but did not find an enemy on the island. On September 22, the reinforced company of Leibovich (284 fighters) landed from 12 torpedo boats in Lox (east of Tallinn ). During the Moonsund operation of 1944, his 1st Marine Battalion (as part of the 260th Brigade) liberated Wormsey Island [2] .
During the liberation of East Prussia in the spring of 1945, he commanded 487 penal battalions of the first echelon of landing on the Frisch-Nehrung spit . During the fighting on the spit on April 26, 1945, Leibovich was injured.
In 1951, he was awarded the military rank of colonel .
Awards: Order of Lenin , Order of the Red Star , Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree , five orders of the Red Banner . May 4, 1945 presented to the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, but was not awarded [3] .
