History
The club was founded in 1902 under the name Meidericher Spielverein (in translation from it. - "Meyderich game team") and represented the town of Meyderich , which became the district of Duisburg in 1905 . In the same 1905 they absorb the Sport Club Viktoria Meiderich (translated from it. Sports Club "Victoria" Meyderich ). In 1967, the team adopted the modern name, according to the status of the most famous team in the city, constantly representing the city in various sports. The club together with St. Pauli holds the first record of the Bundesliga in terms of the number of finishes in last place - 4 (in the seasons 1981/82 , 1999/2000 , 2005/06 , 2007/08 ).
