Description

A new version of the operating system was introduced in June 2017, and was called High Sierra. A full launch of macOS High Sierra will take place in the fall as part of a free update through the Mac App Store. In the new version of the OS, the Apple file system ( APFS ) was significantly upgraded; the data security system was strengthened in case of power outages or system failures, and a new built-in data encryption technology was added to protect information. Also, there is a built-in support system for HEVC video format (H.265) , there is an API for Metal 2 - a technology that supports machine learning capabilities used in speech recognition, computer vision and other areas.

An important innovation is the technology for supporting virtual reality; The Intelligent Tracking Prevention function, based on artificial intelligence, detects and deletes data by which advertisers track users on the Web. Voice assistant Siri got a more natural and expressive voice.

Apple File System (APFS) is the default file system in macOS High Sierra. Previous versions of the OS came with HFS + .

Introduced Metal 2, Apple's graphics library for Mac and iOS, with virtual reality [1] .

MacOS High Sierra also includes support for H.265 , both in hardware and software. Hardware support is only available on the latest Macintosh.
