Geographical position
Alekhovo village is located on the Oksko-Don plain at the head of the Ulas stream (a tributary of the Proni river) 32 km south-west of the town of Shilovo . The distance from the village to the regional center of Shilovo by road is 45 km.
To the west of the village is a forest (Dark Forest), to the east - sewage treatment plants and the territory of horticultural associations of the village of Lesnoy, to the south - a large forest (Shelukhovsky state reserve). The nearest settlements are the village of Lesnoy , the villages of Novoershovo and Novaya Derevnya .
Population
According to the 2010 census, 40 [1] people live permanently in the village of Alekhovo. (in 1992 - 117 people [2] ).
Name Origin
Ryazan local historians A. V. Baburin and A. A. Nikolsky believe that the name of the village of Alekhovo arose from the Ryazan dialect word olekh - “alder forest, grove, alder thickets” according to the toponymic model in -ovo . [3]
History
Alekhovo was first mentioned in 1905 as a monastery farm at the river Ulas Nikonovsky Convent in the village of Sushki Spassky Uyezd . At that time, 9 men and 12 women lived in it. In Soviet times, up to 1992, Alekhovo was listed as a village, now it is a village. [2] [4]
