Biography
Gennady Sergeevich Naumov was born in 1942. In 1965 he graduated from the Department of Athletics of the Volgograd State Institute of Physical Culture [1] . There is a daughter - Vladlena Kornelyuk.
Gennady Sergeyevich worked as a head coach of the national teams of the USSR (1989-1991) and Russia (1991-1997) in athletics (running middle and long distances). He prepared a number of honored masters of sports and international-class athletes in sports, including the champion of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Elena Romanova , who he trained from 1975 until the end of his career [2] [3] [4] . He was one of the first coaches of the 2010 European champion Yulia Zaripova [5] .
He died on February 18, 2006 at the training camp in Kislovodsk from the consequences of heart disease [3] . Since 2007, an annual athletics race in memory of Gennady Naumov has been held in Volgograd [6] .
