Erez ( Heb. ארז ) is a kibbutz in the Southern District of Israel . It is located in the northwestern part of the Negev, about 18 km south of Ashkelon , and is under the jurisdiction of the regional council of Shaar-ha-Negev . In 2018, the population of the kibbutz was 494 people.

History
Kibbutz "Erez" was founded on October 26, 1949 . Its founders were veterans of the Third Battalion of the Iftah Brigade in Palmach , some of whom participated in Operation Yoav in the area.
The kibbutz was originally founded on the territory of the current kibbutz " Or-Timer ", but later, in October 1950, the kibbutz moved to the place of the former Arab village of Dimera.

According to the Central Statistical Bureau of Israel , the population at the beginning of 2018 was 494 people [1] .
Geography
Next to the kibbutz is the main border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Israel " Erez ", which was named after the kibbutz "Erez".
