Hilda Kruusalu was born on June 13, 1904 in the family of a carpenter at the Lisin estate, located near Gatchina in the St. Petersburg province. [one]
Her father, Yuri Piilbaum, was a revolutionary-minded person and entered the battle with the tsarist government, because of which he was forced to leave the estate. In 1908, the family moved to Estonia . Staying here at several manors , the Piilbaum family finally settled on Pruun Manor, located near the Lehtsa railway station in Järvamaa . [one]
At a local school, Hilda Kruusalu received a four-year education and began to look after cattle on the manor. [one]
Later, her parents moved to Udeva Manor in Väinärve Parish and remained there to live. At first, Hilda Kruusalu worked there on agricultural work, since 1919 - as a milkmaid . [one]
In 1940 , after the restoration of Soviet power in Estonia, the Udeva state farm was formed, in which Hilda worked as a milkmaid. During the German occupation, she was forced to earn a living as a cleaner and agricultural worker. [one]
After the liberation of Soviet Estonia from the Nazi occupiers, Hilda Krusalu was a brigade leader of the field crop brigade on the state farm. [one]
Since 1946 - the foreman of the dairy farm of the farm "Udeva" of the Ministry of state farms of the USSR, Paide district of the Estonian SSR. [one]
Under the guidance of a young and energetic livestock specialist Arthur Palma, who dreamed of achieving the results of the famous Kostroma state farm Karavaevo, but at first opposed him, Hilda Kruusalu nevertheless agreed with the introduction of scientific innovations, which Karavaevo was famous for, and the Udeva state farm came close to average milk yield to his indicators [2] .
Hero of Socialist Labor (10/05/1949) for an annual milk yield of 16 cows an average of 6738 kg [2] . She was awarded two Orders of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor .
