History

The club was founded in 2008 following the example of the previously created women's teams Celtic , Hibernian and Aberdeen . The club was formed in partnership with the Paisley City Ladies team that has existed since 1999 [1] [2] . The first coach of the new team was Drew Todd, and the captain - the player of the national team of Scotland, Jane Sommerville [3] .

The team took the place of "Paisley City Ledis" in the First Division, most of the players also moved to the "Rangers" [4] .

In the debut season, the team finished the championship in the first place and won the right to play in the Premier League [5] . The team also reached the Scottish Cup final, in which she lost to Glasgow City with a score of 0: 5 [6] .

In 2010, Scott Ellison was appointed head coach [7] . Under his leadership, the club for the second time reached the final of the Scottish Cup, where he lost to Hibernian (1: 2) [8] .

In May 2011, Alana Marshall became the first Rangers player to be called up to the Scotland national team. [9]

In 2014, the team achieved the best result in history, finishing second in the Premier League.

Since May 2017, the team is headed by Amy Macdonald. [10]
