Ed-Dana [1] ( Arabic: الدانا ) is a city in northwestern Syria located in the governorate of Idlib . It is part of the Harim district. It is the administrative center of the same name Nakhia .

Content

History

In ancient times, Ed-Dana was known as the Aramaic city ​​of Adenu ( Adinnu ) [2] . Adennu was the first city of the North Syrian Union captured by the Assyrian king Salmanasar III during the campaign of 853 BC. e.

Geographical position

The city is located in the northern part of the governorate, near the state border with Turkey , at an altitude of 508 meters above sea ​​level [3] .
Ed Dana is located approximately 31 kilometers northeast (NNE) from Idlib , the provincial capital, and 297 kilometers northeast from Damascus , the country's capital.

Population

According to the 2004 official census , the population of the city was 14,208 people (7344 men and 6864 women) [4] .

Attractions

To the north of the city center are the ruins of a pyramidal tomb, chronologically related to the era of Roman rule in Syria [5] .
