The first artist to record this song was folk singer Judy Collins . The song first appeared on her album Wildflowers (1967), and in 1968 was released as a separate single and became a hit, reaching the 8th place in the US (in the " Hot Hundred " of Billboard magazine). In addition, the song was awarded a Grammy in the category "Best Performance in the Folk Genre" for 1968 [1] .
For Joni Mitchell, this song was the first hit in his career (in this case, as for the author) [1] .
Joni Mitchell herself later also recorded this song and included Clouds in her 1969 album .
In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine placed the song “Both Sides, Now” by Joni Mitchell at number 170 on his list of “ 500 Greatest Songs of All Time ” [2] . In the 2011 list, the song is in 171th place [3] .
In addition, in 2003, the original single Judy Collins with this song (released in 1968 via the Elektra Records label ) was admitted to the Grammy Awards Hall of Fame [4] .
