Gleb Borisovich Drozdov ( November 27, 1940 , Orsk , now Orenburg Oblast - December 16, 2000 , Tolyatti , Samara Oblast ) - Soviet and Russian theater director. People's Artist of the RSFSR ( 1982 ). Founder and artistic director of the first contract theater in the country - Togliatti Drama Theater "Wheel" .

Biography
Gleb Drozdov was born on November 27, 1940 in a family of actors in Orsk (now the Orenburg region ).
He began to play on stage as a child. In 1961, Drozdov entered GITIS at the directing department of A.A. Goncharov . He staged his thesis in Nizhny Novgorod .
In 1966 , after graduating from GITIS, he worked for a year as the chief director of the Saratov Circus .
In 1967-1969 he worked as a director of the Baku Theater of Russian Drama .
In the period from 1969 to 1983, Drozdov was the chief director of the Voronezh ATD named after A.V. Koltsov . At 28, Gleb Drozdov became the youngest chief director in the USSR. He headed the department of acting at the Voronezh Institute of Arts .
From 1983 to 1988, Gleb Drozdov worked as the chief director of the Yaroslavl Academic Drama Theater named after F.G. Volkov and at the same time taught acting at the Yaroslavl Theater School .
In 1988, at the suggestion of the first secretary of the CPSU city committee of Togliatti, Sergey Turkin, he created the first contract theater “Wheel” in Russia and became its artistic director.
In 1990-1994, he was the head of the GITIS studio course at the Wheel Theater.
Since 1994 - Head of the Department of Acting at Volga University named after V.N. Tatishchev .
Over the years, Gleb Borisovich has staged 91 performances, 28 of them at the Wheel Theater. Among the performances of the theater, “Stars in the Morning Sky” by A. M. Galina and “I am poor Soso Dzhugashvili” by V. Korkia (1989), “Marriage” by N.V. Gogol and “Pygmalion” B. Shaw (1990), “All the abyss ”(The Power of Darkness) by L. N. Tolstoy and Othello by W. Shakespeare (1992),“ Madman's Opera ”according to“ The Examiner ”by N.V. Gogol and “ Skapten Skapen ”by Moliere (1995) and others.
For special services to the city community by the decision of the Togliatti City Council on May 19, 1999 No. 533, Gleb Borisovich Drozdov was awarded the title " Honorary Citizen of the city of Togliatti ."
He was married to People's Artist of Russia N. S. Drozdova .
Gleb Borisovich Drozdov died on December 16, 2000 in Tolyatti . He was buried at the Banykinsky cemetery in Togliatti. After death, the Wheel Theater was named after Gleb Drozdov. A memorial plaque is installed on the theater building.
Awards and Prizes
- People's Artist of the RSFSR ( 1982 ).
- State Prize of the RSFSR named after KS Stanislavsky ( 1974 ) - for the authorship of the play (together with E. I. Pashnev ) and the staging of the play “Chronicle of One Day” on the stage of the Voronezh ATD named after A. V. Koltsov .
