The territory of Easton was settled in 1757. Originally it was a suburb of Fairfield. Easton was incorporated separately in 1845. Easton Buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In the vicinity of the city there are about 20 farms. One of the major land owners is Aquarion Water Company [1] [2] .

According to the 2010 census, the population of Easton was 7,490 (of which 49.6% of men and 50.4% of women), there were 2,577 households and 2,105 families in the city. On the territory of the city were located 2715 buildings with an average density of 36.6 buildings per square kilometer of land. The racial composition : white - 94.1%, Native Americans - 0.1%, African Americans - 0.7% [3] .

According to the 2010 census, the population of the city was distributed as follows: 28.4% - residents under 18 years old, 2.4% - between 18 and 21 years old, 54.3% - from 21 to 65 years old and 15.1% - aged 65 and over. The average age of the population is 45.1 years. For every 100 women in Easton, there were 98.4 men, while for 100 adult women, there were already 94.1 men of comparable age [3] .

Of the 2,577 households, 81.7% were families: 72.9% cohabiting couples (36.4% with children under 18); 6.3% are women living without husbands and 2.4% are men living without wives. 18.3% had no family. In 41.9% of households were residents under 18 years old, in 30.8% - over 65 years. On average, 2.90 people have a household, and the average family size is 3.25 people. 15.4% of the population lived alone, 7.8% were single elderly people (over 65) [3] .

In 2015, out of 6,093 people over the age of 16, 3574 had a job. At the same time, men had a median income of $ 103,598 per year compared to $ 90,727 of average annual income for women.
