Massey ferguson

Massey Ferguson was founded by in 1847, in Canada , Ontario, under the name Newcastle Foundry and Machine Manufactory . The company produced one of the world's first mechanical threshers , first by assembling from American parts, but eventually came to designing its own equipment and building assembly lines. , Daniel's eldest son, renamed the company Massey Manufacturing and moved it to Toronto in 1879, where he soon became one of the city’s largest employers.

The development of Tom Carroll, one of the Massey engineers, revolutionized grain harvesting. It was the first self-propelled combine harvester in the world ^[3] (No. 20) of 1938. The model turned out to be too heavy and expensive for mass production, but served as a prototype for the creation of a lighter and less expensive No. 21, tested in 1940, went on sale a year later. The latest generation of Massey-Harris tractors was introduced immediately after World War II . In 1952, the MH 23 Mustang tractor replaced the MH 22 . In 1955, after the merger and formation of the Massey-Harris-Ferguson, the 30-horsepower Massey-Harris 50 tractor was introduced. Sawyer-Massey

Massey-Harris-Ferguson

Massey Ferguson

The company name was shortened to Massey Ferguson in 1958. At the same time, an attempt was made to combine the two dealer networks and production lines. An optimistic advertising jingle was broadcast on radio and television - the male choir sang: "He's a get-up-early, keep-'em-rollin ', Massey-Ferguson kind of a man." But the company itself began to have financial problems. Faced with increasing international competition, Massey Ferguson entered the fray in the 1960s.

Hanomag-Cura, Argentina

In 1971, Massey acquired the production facilities of Rheinstahl Hanomag-Cura in Argentina (founded in 1960). The production of tractors and other agricultural equipment here continues until 1999. Sunshine, Australia

Landini

In 1959, Massey acquired 100% of the company, based in Italy . After this, Landini built many models for Massey, especially vineyard and caterpillar tractors. In 1989, Massey sold 66% of , and another part later , the last Landini stake was sold to ARGO in 2000.

Perkins

In 1959, the English engine manufacturer ( Peterborough ) was purchased, which became Massey Ferguson's main supplier of diesel engines for many years ^[3] . In 1966, Massey acquired 32% of , or Motor Iberica, the Spanish manufacturer of tractors and specialized equipment. Ebro had previously built Ford tractors under license, but has now begun building models for Massey, as well as Massey models under license. Massey sold its stake to Nissan in the 1980s ^[21] .

In the early 1960s, Massey Ferguson moved its headquarters from 915 King Street to Sun Life Tower at 200 University Avenue in downtown Toronto.

In 1969, Massey Ferguson began producing a line of snowmobiles under the brand name Ski Whiz . Their release was discontinued in 1977 due to falling sales.

Activities in Germany

In 1973, Massey bought the German , and many Massey licensed models were built at its facilities. Massey later sold its stake, and now Dromson owns Eicher, who is now building tractors for vineyards and similar equipment.
