It comes from Ananias , the Novgorod posadnik , succeeded by posadnikov in 1255 and died in 1258 .
The grandson of Ananias , Mikhail Pavlovich Ananiev , was also a Novgorod posadnik in 1309. He was killed in the battle of Torzhok in 1315.
After the conquest of Novgorod by the Grand Duke John III Vasilyevich, the Ananyins, among other families, were removed from Novgorod in 1477, and the estates of Vasily Ananyin in Votskaya Pyatina, in the graveyard of Fedorovsky-Pesotsky and in Ladoga Uyezd were described and given to Ovtsin.
One of the Ananyevs, Meshcherin, Ogarkov’s son , was killed in the Kazan winter campaign of 1550, and his name is inscribed in the synod of the Moscow Assumption Cathedral for eternal commemoration.
In 1573, the guardsmen of Ivan the Terrible were Vasily and Dmitry Ananyiny [1] .
In 1699, fourteen Ananyevs owned inhabited estates.
