Biography
Diego Cosgaya was born on January 27, 1987 in the city of Palencia .
The first serious success at the adult international level was in the 2008 season, when he entered the main squad of the Spanish national team and attended the European Championship in Milan, from where he brought the silver dignity award, won with team-mate Javier Hernans in the classification of double kayaks at a distance of 1000 meters - at the finish they were only beaten by the Danish crew Rene Holten Poulsen and Kim Knudsen . A year later, at the World Championships in Canadian Dartmouth, paired with Emilio Merchan, he overtook all his rivals in the same discipline and thereby won a gold medal.
In 2010, Kosgaya performed at the European home championship in Corver, where, together with Merchan, he became the bronze medalist in doubles at a thousand meters, losing in the final to the crews from Germany and Hungary.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin - he started here in twos at a thousand meters and managed to win a bronze medal.
At the 2015 World Championships in Milan with his new partner Marcus Waltz, he received silver in doubles at five hundred meters, losing in the decisive race to the Australian crew of Ken Wallace and Laclan Thame . The following season, at the European Championship in Moscow, as part of a four-seater crew in the 500-meter race, he shared third place with the Russian team [1] [2] .
