Below is a list of the head coaches of the German national football team , their statistics and achievements in the team.

The German team was formed in 1908, but the first 18 years of its existence did not have a head coach. Instead, the team was formed by a selection committee ^[1] . The first head coach of the national team in 1926 was Otto Nerz .

In the entire history of the team, 10 people held the position of head coach, and all of them were Germans ^[2] . Seven of the coaches in the past played for the team as players ^[3] .

7 national team coaches managed to lead the German national team to victory in the international tournament, and Helmut Schön did it twice, at the 1972 European Championship ^[4] and, 2 years later, at the 1974 World Championship ^[5] . Thus, the German national team became the first European team to draw up an international golden double .
