Born in the family of lawyer Giovanni Martynoliha, Sr. My father worked as a secretary at the Austrian Maritime Law Association and as a legal adviser at the British and American consulates in Trieste. Mother - Anna Gerolimich, the daughter of the shipowner from Lussinpikkolo .

He learned to play in the philharmonic society of Trieste with one Nikolo Sardoch ( Sardotsch ).

From 1901 he studied at the Vienna Technical University . Participated in Austrian competitions.

After graduation, he returned to his homeland. He founded a chess society in Trieste.

He played in Italian tournaments, collaborated with the chess magazine " Rivista Scacchistica Italiana ".

He died of heart disease.
