Saint Phillan was the son of Feriakh (probably his father was King Dal of Riad Ferkhar II ) and Saint , grandson of King Leinster Kellah Qualann . He was tonsured a monk in the monastery of St. Fintan Munnu, and then went in 717 from Ireland to Scotland, accompanying his mother Kentigern, his uncle, St. Comgan, Prince of Ireland and their servants. They stopped at Bay. Phyllan subsequently went south and, according to legend, was a monk in Tamon (in Wexford ), before finally settling in Pittenheim , in the Fife region on the east coast of Scotland.
