Biography

Mull Nukke was born on December 6, 1964 in Tallinn . She attended the children's art school in Tallinn from 1977 to 1979, the Tallinn art school Copley from 1981 to 1983, and at the same time attended the Kivihol Tallinn School of Calligraphy (from 1982 to 1983) [1] . Since 1985, Mull Nukke studied at the Estonian Academy of Arts and graduated from the Department of Graphic Arts in 1992 with a master's degree [2] . She has taught painting at Sally Stuudio since 1994. [1] She has been a member of the Association of Estonian Printers since 1992 [3] and the Association of Estonian Artists [4] . In 1998, a short documentary called “Mall Nukke” was shown on Estonian television.

First of all, Mall Nukke is known for her collages and illustrations in the style of pop art [5] . Her early work in the early 1990s was influenced by popular culture. Her early collages combined various references to pop culture and created new characters with the features of real public figures and entertainers [6] . Since the 2000s, Mull Nukke has concentrated on creating photo collages and paintings inspired by Orthodox icon painting [7] .

Mull Nukke has participated in art exhibitions since 1987. She participated in group exhibitions in Copenhagen (1989), the Estonian House of the USA (1990), Helsinki (1991), Kiel (1992) and others. Her solo exhibitions were held in Ethiopia (1990), Tallinn (1991), Stockholm (1992) and other cities [3] . Mull Nukke’s works are in the Kumu Museum , in the Tartu Art Museum , in the Rauma Museum (Finland), in the Viinistu Art Museum (Estonia), the Kiev Lavra Art Gallery and others [8] .
