Biography
Henrik Washbanyai was born on July 16, 1991 in Budapest . He began to actively engage in rowing from early childhood, was trained under the guidance of coach Olah Tamash.
He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in the 2011 season, when he joined the Hungarian national team and played at the home world championships in Szeged, where he became a bronze medalist in the classification of four-seater canoes at a distance of 1000 meters. A year later, he visited the European Championships in Croatian Zagreb, where he also brought the bronze dignity award received in the four-kilometer discipline.
In 2013, together with team-mate Robert Mike in doubles at a thousand meters, Vashbanyi received silver at the European championship in the Portuguese city of Montemor-o-Velho, while at the world championship in Duisburg Germany he took silver at five hundred meters and won gold at a thousand. The following season, with the same partner, he was the best in kilometer canoe doubles at the European Championships in Brandenburg, while at the World Championships in Moscow he won a silver medal in this discipline. At the 2015 World Championships in Milan, he added another silver award to the track record obtained in the program of double crews at a distance of 1000 meters.
At the 2016 European Championships in Moscow, Henrik Vashbanyi became a bronze medalist in doubles at a thousand meters and thanks to a series of successful performances he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics . Together with Robert, Mike successfully qualified at the preliminary stage, then at the stage of semi-finals he showed the third result at the finish line and thereby made his way to the main final “A”. In the decisive final race he finished fourth, far from reaching the prize positions. In addition, he competed here in the standings of singles at a kilometer distance, but managed to qualify only for the consolation finale “B”.
