La Esmeralda ( Spanish: La Esmeralda ) - a village in the south of Venezuela , in the state of Amasonas . It is the administrative center of the municipality of Alto Orinoco .

Geographical position
La Esmeralda is located in the east of the state, in the southwestern part of the Guiana Plateau , on the right bank of the Orinoco River, approximately 354 kilometers southeast of the city of Puerto Ayacucho , the state’s administrative center. The absolute height is 68 meters above sea level [1] .

According to the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the population of the village in 2013 was 20,030 people [2] .
