Biography
In 1957 he graduated from high school in the city of Kislovodsk .
After graduating from the Engineering Faculty of the Izhevsk Mechanical Institute in 1962 with a degree in mechanical engineering, he was sent to the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant .
The plant has gone through all the stages of engineering growth: a shift foreman in the pre-production workshop No. 45, a process engineer, deputy and head of the rocket engine workshop, production manager, and since 1974 - chief engineer. In December 1980, at the age of 40, he was appointed CEO of the enterprise. He became the youngest leader of this rank in the entire ministry. The number of employees of the plant in the early 1980s was about 25 thousand people. Under the leadership of Chuguevsky in the 1980s, the production capacity of the enterprise more than doubled.
Thanks to the efforts of Vasily Sergeyevich, many types of industries were actually re-created, and existing ones were expanded many times, hospitals, sports complexes, residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, and other social facilities were built.
Vice-President of the Union of Russian Armsmakers, Chairman of the Industrial and Economic Association "Development", Advisor to the President of the Udmurt Republic on Industry.
He worked at the plant for more than forty years.
He died suddenly as a result of a stroke. Tens of thousands of people came to say goodbye to Vasily Sergeyevich - residents of the city, representatives of industrial enterprises, organizations, the public, foreign partner companies - from the USA, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, many cities of Russia. He was buried in Izhevsk .
In 2003, in memory of Vasily Chuguevsky, a street was named after him in Izhevsk.
