Biography
Born in Anderson , South Carolina . She graduated from College of Charleston, was a member of Alpha Delta Pi, and received a bachelor's degree in humanities in English. Later, she received a Master of Arts in Education from The Citadel. After graduation, she taught English literature at North Charleston High School.
Her first television work was on WCSC-TV in Charleston , South Carolina. Where she was an educational reporter and temporarily replaced the presenter. [one]
Participation in beauty contests
After winning the title of Miss South Carolina , she participated in the Miss USA 1994 national beauty pageant . She won first place in the semifinals, winning all three contests. After the semi-finals, she entered the Top 6, becoming the second. Having won the title, she became the third representative of the state who won the title of Miss USA. She participated in the international beauty contest Miss Universe 1994 . Where she entered the Top 6 finalists finalists [2] and becoming fourth according to the results of the competition.
In 2016, she became a judge at the Young Miss USA 2016 contest held at The Venetian Theater, Las Vegas , Nevada .
Career
In San Antonio, was hired by KABB as a weekend host and reporter. She became the main presenter in 2000. In February 2003, she became the host of “Great Day SA,” in the top-rated San Antonio morning entertainment show. In January 2005, she moved to Los Angeles and joined Frank Buckley as co-host of the KTLA channel with the KTLA Prime News weekend program. In 2007, she co-authored a program on the weekday of the KTLA Morning News program at 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM with Sher Calvin . In January 2008, it became the main host of the KTLA Prime News program. Later, she returned as the host of the weekend weekend news with Lynette Romero. When Markina Brown was hired as the new meteorologist on a weekday evening.
She performed at Larry King Live and E! Entertainment Television. Supported by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Personal
She met with Antonio Villaraigos , mayor of Los Angeles , in March 2009. Her employer, KTLA, reportedly did not know about this fact until May 2009. Parker reported several stories of Villaraigosa before publicly exposing her relationship with him. [3] Separated in May 2012. [four]
On November 2, 2016, she was arrested at the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) on suspicion of petty theft. Presumably, she took a passenger headphone, priced at 200 US dollars. The incident was recorded by video surveillance cameras and was soon detained by the police. [5] [6]
Animal Protection
In 2010, she founded the Lu Parker project, [7] whose mission is to "improve the lives of at-risk youth and homeless animals, through direct services, education and support."
