Biography
Born on March 18, 1919, in Kensington , London [4] . He began his career as a cameraman in 1947. In 1964 he received his first BAFTA nomination for best cinematography in the film “ Winners " [5] . The next time he was nominated in 1966 for the film “ Air Adventures ” [6] , and in 1967 he won the prize for the film “ Arabesque ” [7] . Challis received the last nomination in 1978 for cinematography in the film “The Abyss ” [8] .
He was one of the founders of the British Society of Cameramen and their President from 1962 to 1964 [9] .
Died May 31, 2012 in the city of Bristol [4] .
