Vittorio was born in Palermo on October 15, 1923 in a noble family descending from Calabria . In his youth, he revolved in the aristocratic world of Palermo - this center of Sicily, but soon left for Rome . Then he served in the Italian naval forces, and from 1943 to 1945. was a prisoner of the German concentration camp, refusing to join the military formations of the Republic of Salo.
His film career began in 1953: he was the second assistant director for Mario Chiari , who shot an episode for the film “Love Stories of the First Century” (1953).
