Content

Geographical position

Romny district is located in the south-west of the Sumy region of Ukraine . Konotopsky , Burynsky , Nedrigailovsky and Lipovodolinsky districts of Sumy region, Lokhvitsky district of Poltava region, Varvinsky , Srebnyansky and Talalaevsky Chernihiv regions are adjacent to it.

The administrative center of the district is the city (from 1096 ) Romny , which itself is not part of the district.

The rivers Sula , Romain , Bishkin , Khmelevka , Loknya , Olava , Artopolot flow through the district.

Population

The population of the district is 46 328 people ( 2001 ), in 1979 - 64 200 (without the city of Romny ).


History

  • The district was formed on March 7, 1923. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1939, he was transferred from the Chernigov Region to the newly formed Sumy Region .
