Anton Schaeffer ( German: Anton Schäffer , 1722 , Düsseldorf - 1799 ) is a German medalist, mitzmaster and stamp cutter [1] .

Anton's father, Wiegand Schaeffer, was a Kurpfalz medalist and wardeyn. Since 1748, Anton, under the guidance of his father, worked as a mint engraver at the Palatinate Mint in Mannheim.
He created the stamps of a number of Kurpfalz coins: ducats from Rhine gold of 1763 and 1764, Convention thalers of 1766 and 1775, etc.
He created a number of commemorative medals, including: on the consecration of the Jesuit church in Mannheim (1760), on the basis of the Academy of Sciences (1763), on the foundation of the Academy of Fine Arts (1768). In 1758 he finished a series of 26 medals dedicated to the ancestors of the Elector of the Palatinate Charles IV Theodore .
His work was mainly signed by the initials "AS".
