In 1901, at the University of Lyon, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the Moon covering the stars that make up the Pleiades cluster . At that time, such observations were very important for checking the actual position of the moon with the positions predicted by calculations [3] .
Subsequently, he worked for several years at the Observatory of Lyon , until August 1, 1906, received the position of director of the observatory in Quito , where he worked for several more years. Then, until 1924, he worked at the Nice Observatory , after which he transferred to the Algerian Observatory , in which he was its director from 1931 to 1938, replacing his predecessor François Gonnessiat , who had retired by then.
In recognition of his merits, one of the asteroids was given his name (1412) Lagrois [4] .
