Biography

Originally from the village of Mokhrkut in the Hotorzhursky Gorge. Member of the ARF . Catholic Armenian, studied at a Catholic school in Trebizond . From a young age he joined the liberation movement.

During the First World War, he fought on the Caucasian Front as part of the First Armenian Volunteer Regiment. In 1920, he participated in the suppression of the May uprising in Armenia .

In the framework of Operation Nemesis, on July 25, 1922 in Tiflis, Tsagikyan took part (together with A. Gevorgyan and P. Ter-Poghosyan ) in the attempt on the assassination of Jemal Pasha , one of the main perpetrators of the Armenian Genocide , who came to Moscow as a representative of Afghanistan , where he worked as a military adviser, for negotiations. Without waiting for financial assistance from the Soviet government, in whose interests he promised to oppose the British in Afghanistan, Jemal tried to travel through Tiflis to Ankara to meet with Mustafa Kemal . Jemal Pasha was killed.

In the 1930s, Tsagikyan tried to help the repressed Armenians, was arrested and died in exile in the USSR .

On April 5, 2010, a memorial plaque to Jemal Pasha was erected on the corner of Tchaikovsky and Ingorogva streets in Tbilisi, on the facade of a house owned by former state adviser Anton Solomonovich Korkhanyan. On April 17, the Armenian community achieved the removal of the board [1] .
