Since 1955 - a member of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR .
She defended her thesis "Plants as indicators of soil salinization (under conditions of Central Fergana)", Tashkent, 1961.
In 1985, the head of the laboratory .

Research
NI Akzhigitova studied the biogeocenoses of the desert and steppe zones, she studied shifts in ontogenesis in plants of Pamir highlands, in the outskirts of Tashkent, showed halophytic vegetation of Central Asia and its indicative properties, and also considered the resistance mechanisms of the species diversity of herbaceous plants of the Amudarya delta under changing conditions climate. Nadezhda Ibrahimovna explored the vegetation area of Kazakhstan and Central Asia within the desert region, reflecting the main research results in her thesis “Plants as indicators of soil salinization (in Central Fergana)” and a number of other publications.
