Geographical position

The village of Muscle is located on the Oksko-Don plain on the Muscle River, 44 km northeast of the village of Shilovo . The distance from the village to the regional center of Shilovo by road is 68 km.

The village is surrounded by significant forests; to the west of it are the tracts of the Simakinsky quarry and Losin, in the north - the tract of Shipa and the Lashma ravine , to the east - the Romashin Khorek ravine. The nearest settlements are the villages of Simakino and Small Peksely , the village of Big Peksely .

Name Origin

In the work of A. Mansurov, “On the Question of the Ancient Population of the Meshchersky Territory” (1897), the name of the village and the river is written as Mussa. E. M. Murzaev in the Dictionary of Popular and Geographical Terms (1984) reports that the “ mouse ” is a hill, a hill, a hill.

In 1861, a parish school was opened in Muscle. In 1875, a warm chapel was arranged at the St. Nicholas Church in honor of St. Demetrius the Myrrh-streaming.

By 1891, according to I.V.Dobrolyubov , in the parish of the Nikolskaya church in the village of Myshtsy, in addition to the village with 125 yards, there were the villages of Big Peksely (168 yards) and Small Peksely (72 yards), in which only 1,151 male souls lived and 1,198 female souls, including literate - 172 people. Transport

The main cargo and passenger transportation is carried out by road: the village has access to a nearby regional highway P125 : Ryazhsk-Kasimov-Nizhny Novgorod. 3.5 km south-east of the village is the stopping point Shemyakino of the Shilovo-Kasimov railway line of the Moscow Railway .
