Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation

Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation is a public association.

The public association "Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation" ("Azərbaycan Gimnastika Federasiyası" İctimai Birliyi) is the general body of gymnastics management in Azerbaijan. The founding conference of the AGF was held on October 7, in 2002 the first lady of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, was elected as the President of the Federation. [one]

History and Functions

In 1994, the public association "Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation" was registered at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In the same year

she became a member of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

In 1996, the federation joined the European Gymnastics Union (UEG).

On October 7, 2002, the transformation of AGF took place. At the AGF Founding Conference, the First Lady and the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva became the president of the Federation.

In 2006, First Lady and First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva was re-elected as president of AGF.

At this stage, the federation combines rhythmic gymnastics, men's gymnastics, women's gymnastics, tumbling and acrobatic gymnastics.


Administration

The general meeting is the highest governing body of the AGF. AGF operations are managed by the Executive Committee. Members of the Executive Committee are elected by the General Meeting for five years. The composition of the Executive Committee AGF:

• President of AGF - Chairman of the Executive Committee

• Vice President of AGF - Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee

• 3 members of the executive committee


The president of AGF is Mehriban Aliyeva, the vice-president is Altai Hasanov.

Nihad Hagverdiyev, International Relations Manager, AGF, was elected a member of the FIG Disciplinary Commission at a FIG Council meeting held in Orlando in May 2007, also at a Council meeting held in Lillestrom in May 2009. Designed by Broadway Malian, the National Sports Arena was built from August 2009 to February 2014 for rhythmic gymnastics competitions. The arena was opened on April 16, 2014, and the 30th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships was the first event held at the NSA in June 2014. The arena is one of the few specialized gymnastics venues in the world and is designed for all gymnastics classes and other sports and events. It has retractable and mobile seats, a gym of the Azerbaijani national gymnastics team. [2]

In its activities, AGF adheres to the principles and goals of the Olympic Movement, cooperates with the National Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with sports organizations. AGF also collaborates with international organizations.


AGF Responsibilities

  • To develop and promote types of gymnastics;
  • Within the framework of their authority to form national teams by type of gymnastics;
  • Improve the system of training athletes;
  • Take part in creating conditions for the social protection of athletes, coaches, other specialists working in this field, take care of gymnastics veterans;
  • Within the framework of their authority to form and develop standards for the types of gymnastics, etc.

National Gymnastics Arena

 
National Gymnastics Arena

National Gymnastics Arena ( azerb. Milli Gimnastika Arenası) - This arena is located in Baku ( Azerbaijan ) near the Koroglu metro station. It is intended for gymnastics competitions . The arena is designed for almost 6,000 seats.

At present, teams of rhythmic gymnastics and gymnastics among men, trampolining , acrobatics are training in the gymnastic arena.
