University of Mostar ( Croatian Sveučilište u Mostaru , Latin Universitas Studiorum Mostariensis ) - the university of the city of Mostar of Bosnia and Herzegovina , located in the Rondo district. It is the only university in the country where training is fully conducted in the Croatian language .

The roots of the University of Mostar go back to 1895 , when the Franciscan Theological School was established [1] . In 1950, the Higher Educational School began work in Mosar, then in 1959 the Higher Technical School was established and in 1960 - the Higher Agricultural School.
The university was founded in Mostar on February 11, 1977 . Initially bore the name of Jemal Biedic , a Yugoslav Bosnian statesman who died in a plane crash in 1977. At the time of foundation, the university had 4 faculties, 1 college and 2 institutes. In the 1977/78 school year, 5,016 students were enrolled at the university [2] .
In 1992 , during the Bosnian War , the university received the current name, and its official language was Croatian. Muslim professors who left the university in 1993 founded a new educational institution in Mostar, which received the old name of Jemal Biedić University . It is located in the former Yugoslav army barracks.
The university has about 14,000 students, of which about 17% are from Croatia [3] . About 1000 employees work. The university has ten faculties, an arts academy, eight institutes and a student center. Training programs for bachelors and masters are aligned with the Bologna rules [4] . The rector of the university is Lerka Ostoich [5] . The university is located at pl. Greater Croatian Market, 1 [6] . The university's print shows the building of the Franciscan monastery.
