Death of the Strattonauts
Stratonauts Yakov Grigorievich Ukrainsky , Serafim Konstantinovich Kuchumov , Pyotr Mikhailovich Batenko and David Yevseyevich Stolbun were raised on the BBA-I substrate , to study the effect of altitude pressure on the human body and died July 18, 1938 . At high altitude, the oxygen equipment failed, and the individual oxygen equipment did not cope with maintaining life support. The crew of the substratostat died from suffocation. The gondola of the substratostat fell on the territory of the central park of culture and recreation named after A. Shcherbakov (in the area of “White career”). Substrattostat when falling hit the power line. The substrate ball exploded as it was filled with hydrogen .
Description of the monument
The Stratonauts were buried at the intersection of Pushkin Boulevard and the 25th anniversary of the Red Army. The Strattonauts Monument was installed in 1953 . The authors of the monument: sculptors E. I. Belostotsky , E. I. Friedman , G. L. Pivovarov , architect N. K. Ivanchenko .
The monument is a two-meter sculpture of a strattonaute, which looks into the endless expanse of the aerial ocean. The sculpture is made of bronze, and the pedestal of labradorite . Under the sculpture is a five-pointed star and a memorial plaque. Four bronze bas-reliefs by the straponauts Yakov Grigorievich Ukrainian, Serafim Konstantinovich Kuchumov, Peter Mikhailovich Batenko and David Yevseyevich Stolbun are made on the memorial plaque. Also on the memorial plaque is the inscription inside the wreath:

Alternative Version
According to some local historians, during the German occupation during World War II, the German military cemetery was located next to the graves of the stratons and the Germans reburied the remains of the stratons somewhere in the park. A. S. Shcherbakov . Therefore, there are completely different graves under the monument to the strongholds [1] .
