TaxonomyThe species was first scientifically described in 1913 [4] . It is named after the anthropologist and zoologist Thomas Nelson Annandale (1876-1924). The lectotype is a female 32.7 cm long, caught in the Halmacher Sea at a depth of 827 m [5] .
RangeThese bathydemersal ramps live off the east coast of Indonesia . They are found at a depth of 400 to 830 m [1] .
DescriptionThe wide and flat pectoral fins of these rays form a heart-shaped disk. On the ventral side of the disc are 5 gill slits, nostrils and mouth. On the long tail there are lateral folds [2] . The maximum recorded length is 33 cm [3] .
BiologyLike other rhombic, these stingrays lay eggs enclosed in a rigid horn capsule with protrusions at the ends. Embryos feed exclusively on yolk [3] .
Human InteractionThese skates are not subject to targeted fishing. Vulnerable to by- catch from bottom trawling. In the area, a fairly intense trawl fishing is underway. The data for the assessment of the conservation status of the species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature are insufficient [1] .
