Mona Khaled ( Arabic: منى خالد ; born October 9, 1994 ) - Egyptian chess player , female grandmaster ( 2007 ). The first Egyptian chess player to become a female grandmaster.

Biography

In 2007, she won the Women's African Chess Championship in Windhoek . In 2008, she won the women's chess championship in the Arab countries [2] . In 2009, in Tripoli, she won silver at the Africa Women's Individual Chess Championship. In 2010, with an absolute result - 9 points out of 9 possible - she won the Egyptian Women's Chess Championship. In 2011, Maputo re-won the African Women's Chess Championship. In 2014, in Chania, she won the women's chess championship of the Mediterranean basin countries [3] .

Participated in the women's world chess championships :

  • In 2008 , in Nalchik in the first round she lost Hou Yifan [4] ;
  • In 2010 in Antakya in the first round she lost to Tatyana Kosintseva [5] ;
  • In 2012 , in Khanty-Mansiysk, in the first round, she lost to Ekaterina Lagno [6] ;
  • In 2017 , in Tehran, in the first round, she lost to Nana Dzagnidze [7] .

She represented Egypt at five chess olympiads (2008-2016). She participated in the women's team chess tournament in the African Games twice (2007-2011). In the team event, she won the gold (2011) medal. In the individual event, she won two gold medals (2007, 2011) [8] . She participated in the women's team chess tournament of the Pan-Arab Games twice (2007-2011). In the team event, she won the gold (2007) and bronze (2011) medals. In the individual event, she won the gold (2011) medal [9] .
