As of March 31, 2010, the population is 16.975 people, an area of 18.65 km ², density 910 people / km ²
On March 23, 2010, Haman County with the only village of Arai was merged with the city of Kosai and no longer exists as an independent municipality.
Geographical position
Arai was located on the southwestern tip of Shizuoka Prefecture, on the shores of Lake Hamana. The village had a temperate maritime climate with hot, humid summers and mild, cool winters.
Economy
The economy of Arai was largely based on industrial fisheries, growing algae and producing fireworks.
