Crown of Stephen the First Crowned ( Serb. Krun Stefan the First Crowned ) - according to legend, the crown by which the Serbian king Stephen the First Crowned was crowned . According to legend, in 1201, Stephen the First-Crown asked Pope Innocent III to recognize him as king and send the crown [1] , but only in 1217 did Pope Honorius III agree to fulfill this request and transferred the crown to which Stephen was crowned [2 ] . According to legend, it was used to coronate all subsequent Serbian kings, but not kings (kings Stefan Urosh IV Dushan and Stefan Urosh V used a different crown). Based on images from coins and frescoes, we can conclude that the crown consisted of a wreath of lilies.
However, sufficient evidence of the transfer of such a crown to Stephen the First-Crown from Rome in 1217 was not provided by historians, since Stephen was officially crowned only in 1222 in the monastery of Zicz in the Orthodox rite of Savva Serbsky . Theories were considered that the royal crown came to Stefan from Byzantium and that it was with the approval of the Byzantines that Stefan was crowned [3] , however, no mention of the royal crown sent to Stephen the First Crown from anywhere is found in Serbian chronicles [4] . Since Serbia was quite in contact with Byzantium, the Byzantine influence on the culture of Serbia increased, so the crown ceased to appear on frescoes. The appearance of the crown is also recorded on the coat of arms of Kotromanic, who added it after Bosnia was recognized as a kingdom and the coronation of Tvrtko I.
