Japanese-Croatian relations ( Croatian. Hrvatsko-japanski odnosi ; 日本 と ク ロ ア チ ア の 関係 ) - bilateral diplomatic, historical and cultural relations between the states of Croatia and Japan . The two countries established diplomatic relations with each other on March 5, 1993. The Croatian Embassy in Tokyo began operations in September 1993, while the Japanese Embassy in Zagreb was founded somewhat later, in February 1998 [1] . Historically, both countries were part of the military-political alliance of the Axis powers during World War II . At that time, Japan had its embassy in Zagreb and recognized the Independent State of Croatia , which was a puppet state under the influence of Nazi Germany [2] .
