Biography

Family
Father - Vasily Zhukovsky (1762, village of Reshetnikovo, Kiev province - 1840, Chelyabinsk) - one of the first Chelyabinsk doctors, organizer of health care. In 1784 he graduated from a medical school at the St. Petersburg Land Hospital, where he remained working as a substitute. In 1786, J. was invited by S. S. Andreevsky on an expedition to Chelyabinsk to study an unknown disease. He took part in the Andreevsky self-contamination experiment, helped him recover. In 1788, according to the results of work in the Urals, he received the title of doctor. J. remained to work in Chelyabinsk, in 1799 received the title of headquarters healer. Contributed to the organization of the fight against anthrax. Author of the books “On the treatment of anthrax” and “On the anthrax”. In 1828, J. organized the first hospital in Chelyabinsk. Being a deeply decent man, he was respected by all the townspeople; his house was considered the cultural center of the city (still preserved on Truda St., being the oldest such building in Chelyabinsk, and, in this regard, an object of cultural heritage of the Russian Federation).
